Laura Dahl Jane Dress

I think it’s absolutely gorgeous! The cut is flattering for most body shapes and it’s casual enough for the summer. The fuschia offers a shock of color that guarantees people pay attention to you. What are your thoughts? Is it my ’80s fashion sense that’s making me love this look?

Ovatus Fashion

Ovatus Fashion was the creation of two designers, Shaima’a and Reem. They design both apparel and jewelry. I’m always inspired hearing the stories of how people pursue their dreams and thought it would be a wonderful start to 2008. Here is the story of how Ovatus Fashion came to be, in their own words:

Shaima’a, The Beginning

“I grew up knowing my dream, worked hard to achieve it and now I’m starting to live it. With the passion for fashion design and what it entails to come up with a wearable master piece whether in choosing textiles, detailed tailoring and embroidery work, Ovatus emerged to embody the spirit of it’s designers and founders. I graduated from Kuwait University with a marketing and business administration degree and with that I’m combining art and science to make Ovatus not only a successful fashion house but also a successful business model. Teaming up with Reem is definitely a big push forward with her enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge in her field. The brain storming process became not only more productive but also amusing.”

Reem’s Inspiration

I was fascinated with colors and art, dare I say obsessed ever since I was little. I enjoyed collecting fashion jewelry and stones just as much as I enjoyed wearing them. It all started in New York City in 2006 while doing a training program in the investment field. I came across a beading class add at a stones and bead shop in Manhattan, and thought this might be an interesting thing to do to satisfy the artistic side of me. With fashion jewelry designing I have found my creative niche, the small craft shop’s class and the hobby I thought was just leisure, turned into real life time investment, yet investment in myself. I started to collect semi- precious stones and various types of beads and convert them into wearable art.

In addition to being a fashion jewelry designer, I’m an entrepreneur at heart, I was fortunate to run into an old college buddy Shaima’a, whose a fashion designer, and started to think of a way to join forces to combine fabrics and stones, and translate that into a successful business story. This is where Ovatus B*Jeweled was born as an extension to the success of Ovatus. Hope you enjoy wearing our pieces just as much as we enjoy designing them.
