Comfortable High Heels: Do They Exist?
Tuesday, April 1, 2008 10:42
I love my high heels but lately I’ve realized that most of the heels I own aren’t so comfortable so I’m on the search for what may seem impossible…the search for comfortable high heels!
Beauty may be painful at times but I’m done with torturing my feet despite the gorgeous creations that are out there. I’d love to own a pair of beautiful shoes that won’t have me whimpering at the end of the day.
I’ve asked friends for recommendations and I’ve heard numerous names from Cole Haan to Prada.
Quality heels are usually an investment, good shoes are always pricey, so I thought I’d ask you dear readers to share your thoughts because I know we’ve all suffered through heel mishaps from blisters to losing heel tips, and the worst of all the indignity of a broken heel.
Please let me know which heels you own that you can spend all day wearing in total and utter comfort. Do comfortable high heels exist?

Lets takeyour question one step further:
Does comfortable have to be expensive:
9/10 - yes for me. I have rarely bought a cheap shoe and been comfortable. Thats not to say that all expensive shoes are comfy, just that its more likely to find a comfy shoe when its more pricey.
I just bought a pair of chie mihara’s. Very very comfy. I love them. They are a size 36 so small on one foot and okay on another. I have to take it to the shoe repair guy to adjust it for me and now its better. The supple leather gve way to be more comfortable. I have a pair of cole haan’s - nike air… love them and made my mom and all my friends get the same pair. Very good brand.
I like the platform feel to all the shoes this year. The extra cushion really help. The shoes you posted looks very comfortable. I find that when you knock off an inch it doesnt take away too much from the beauty of the shoes but it all the more comfortable.
With that in mind, I dont find flats or ballerinas all that comfortable as people make them out to be. I have 10 or so pairs of ballerinas of which 1 is comfortable (it was expensive) and the rest give me blisters but i grit my teeth and bear it

Well Jooj most of my comfortable heels have been expensive. I haven’t found quality heels to date that were cheap and comfy. Maybe others have been luckier than we have in that!
I do agree that cushioning helps. That’s become my priority when it comes to shoe shopping now but I really dislike having to break in a shoe to know how durable it is and whether it will ultimately hurt my feet or not.

Yes … My most comfortable pair were Prada’s .. and I don’t regret spending a cent on them. I have these extremly comfortable Kenneth Cole platforms, the only problem is one shoe is bigger than the other .. So i can’t walk long distances in them any more. I have another comfortable shoe from Sergio Rossi.
Nine West can make comfortable shoes and they are reasonably priced.

You know…there are times when you feel like you are delving into the deep jungles of shoes in stores, but once you find that one pair, the annoying trip will be quickly forgetten and replaced with a euphoric feeling of victory.
My absolute FAVORITE are my black BCBG pumps-irreplacable -and I can walk for hours in them. This isn’t easy to say as I’m sure I have the most sensitive feet in history and no shoe can be worn, neither heels nor sneakers, without band-aids. So, those pair are my achievement. They have met their end but I refuse to throw them away. Another pair are my Jimmy Choo’s. There’s just something about them. Yes they’re pretty high, but they’re unusually comfortable. I have plenty of heels but I only named two- my miracle, and the unusual comfort.
So are there comfortable high heels? Yes. Is it fair to say that one certain brand or designer creates the most comfortable high heel? No, because the styles are different, one might cramp your toes while one is tearing at the back of your foot. All I have to say is try them on both feet and walk around the store for 15 min. If you’re still OK afterwards, then def buy them.

Chirp, my left foot is sliiiightly bigger than my right which also causes a problem sometimes in trying on shoes. I own a pair of Kenneth Cole kitten heels which were comfortable but I prefer 3″ heels or higher. I also own a couple of Nine West shoes bought from years ago but they haven’t made anything since that I’ve liked or have found to be comfortable.
newq8bride, thanks for your Gucci recommendation. I’ve never bought a pair from Faith because I don’t like their styles or look. I’m glad you enjoy them though! What brand were the shoes you bought from Malaysia? Or were they a generic type of heel?
Hachoo, welcome to the blog and thank you for sharing! Yes, different feet have different requirements and that’s one thing that makes shoe shopping so difficult! And men wonder why we’re crazy over shoes! Once we find that magic pair, we’re in love! I’m hopeful that euphoria is within my grasp. Sadly, I may have to try on many shoes before I find my match.

Arche makes boots and sandles that fit your feet like gloves and you can walk in them all day, heels or not. (Some have higher heels, some don’t) I had a great pair of Norma Kamali 3.5 ” heels that were so gorgous and so comfortable you could wear them to work and never take them off and go dancing in them after work. I literally wore them out.

Ahhhh Zahra……..ive been having the same problem lately !!
In the past i was a totally heels girls….practically all the time….even when im on holiday and we’re doing touristy stuff……always always in my heels….and i was comfortable and walked like a breeze in them……for the past 2 years after the ballerina craze….i slowly found myself buying ballerina after ballerina…..and flat after flat…..until i have reached a point where i cannot wear heels even if theyre comfortable i just feel so annoying walking in them ;( u cant imagine how this is bugging me….cuz sometimes certain outfits need the extra few inches ! and i just cant wear heels….i dont even like any i see and i stopped buying heels

There aren’t many comfortable high heels. And obviously the higher they go the higher the potential pain. But alas, the higher the heel the more alluring the shoe.

You won’t believe it, and although I hardly find something I like there, but I bought two heels from River Island, and they’re extremely comfy! I can walk in them for hours. My Jimmy Choo on the other hand is now reserved for receptions that I only pop by now. They’re THAT uncomfy. Maybe it was my luck with that one shoe, but it was a very bad experience. But ya, check out River Islands if you happen to like any of their heels

Comfortable High Heels?
I heard once that there was a pair that existed but i think maybe it turned out not to be true
Actuallly i have several pairs of reasonably priced heels that all cost under $100 that are pretty comfortable and at least 2 pairs in that price range i can work all day in and dance all night in. I also have several pairs of VERY expensive branded heels that are not comfortable but do i care, Not a bit, they look fabulous, make me feel gorgeous and improve my posture.
Comfort is over rated
