Coats and Jackets: Trendy Styles and Classic Shapes

When it comes to coats and jackets, what is your style? Do you go after the funky modern look with interesting silhouettes or do you prefer classic shapes that will last years? Winters in Kuwait are brief yet harsh. I have two classic coats that have been in my closet for years. One is leather and the other is a wool blend. I try to buy one trendy coat in the winter, but it usually turns out to be a parka and I give it to the needy when it goes out of style.

My favorite jacket this fall is a combination of trendy and classic look. It’s the Mike & Chris Leather Hoodie, a snug fit and supple leather make this jacket.

Like you.. I have two basics, black leather trench coat and khaki wool (both are long coats just above the knees) I may add my other trench in white leather-reversible-jeans coat..

I also have so many shorter coats that are either detailed, structured, hooded, duofold, cropped, blazer like, bubble and bell sleeved ones, puffers…etc

This season I want to get a metallic one cuz the one I had is, hmmm well let me sat… DEAD! heehee

I lived abroad for a long time so I really needed coats and generally speaking I don’t tend to throw them away because they’re classic. The thing is when you’re abroad you’re actually outdoors a lot in order to get from your place to wherever you’re going. But what do you do with a heavy coat if you’re just wearing it from Quortuba to the Avenues for example? Do you keep it on or do you carry it around with you while you’re shopping which can be a real nuisance?

1001 Nights not all coats and jackets are that heavy! speacially the ones Zahra posted pictures of. A lot of them can be suitable for work. Plus you need your coat when traveling right? and as you said they are classic and last forever specially when our winter is TOO short for us to wear them for long periods of time

Ansam you make a good point. The only thing is the coats that aren’t heavy usually don’t keep you warm and they’re just there for looks. Like for example leather jackets. They practically do nothing about the cold! At least 5 of the jackets/coats posted here won’t keep you warm even in the Kuwaiti winter if you’re outdoors.
