$pend and $plurge vs. Steal and Save

$pend and $plurge vs. Steal and Save will be a weekly feature on Tuesdays by Ansam. Inspired by May’s Similar Bag post, this feature has been in the making for a long time.

Shopping smart is not an easy job for those who don’t know where to look. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a laundry rack for KWD 17 just to realize there is a smaller size version of it that sells for a little below KWD 4. It’s always good to know what’s out there for you, choices you have to make before buying….

You can find the same trend in different prices at different stores. I don’t encourage buying replicas of the real deal.. all I am trying here is to show you that you can get almost exactly the same thing for less

I will gladly search the market for some trends and provide you with the option of going with real deal or the steal

This week’s feature are the shiny leather peep toe pumps

1. Dior: Miss Dior Patent Peep Toe for $515.00 (around KWD 145)
2. ALDO: YMELDEEfor $89.99 (around KWD 25)
3. Victoria’s Secret: Almost exactly Dior’s twin, One for $55.00 or two for $88 (around KWD 15.500, and KWD 24.750 respectively)

Which one would you go for? Honestly!

Kuwait-Style.com and bank accounts everywhere thank weekly contributer Ansam for her delightful $pend and $plurge vs. Steal and Save. Searching for something in specific? Email Ansam ( spend.vs.save@gmail.com) with requests for the real deal vs. steal and you might find your answer in next week’s post!

Aldo has really uncomfortable shoes, except for the few occaisonal ones that are great.
I have issues with shoes, I can rarely ever find my size (35) and I don’t like to shop online for shoes ;p

    Help! ;)

I don’t wear heels but if I really had to buy those heels and my budget was real tight as always I’ll have to settle for Victoria’s Secret offer. I love expensive brands as long as they’re not shoes.

I love the idea behind this post, really cool … keep up the good work Zahra and Ansam:)

To be honest, I’ll go for the cheaper one, why should I pay more when I can take it for less. :)

    Chirp-
I was shopping in the Avenues last week and saw some 35-36 shoes on sale in Faith. You will never know.. go ahead and try. You have tiny feet that I would trip if I had them! Thats so cute.

Thanks, glad you liked the idea ;-) And the VS ones are selling 2 for $88 which is almost the price of one at Aldo.

    Kharbota-
    Thanks :-D

    rieaane-
Yeah and specially if its not a replica with fake logos and stuff, which I really am against… when its a trend, i.e. peep toe pump, then why not!

    victoria’s secrets.
why? cz it’ll end up on the floor, picking up all kinds of germs..
its like throwing ur money on the floor if i got the dior ones!

i think it really depends. I have bought several shoes from Aldo that look real good, but sometimes they are just a pain in the foot (literally)! If I really like the style of the shoes, and I can find comfortable cheaper ones, then why not. I really care about the comfort!

For example, although I love Jimmy Choo a lot of their shoes are not comfortable. I call them dinner shoes. I wear them only when I know a car is going to drop me at the door, and that I won’t be dancing or walking in them. :D

Of course as long as not replica, then it will be fine!
