Interview with Fashion on Wheels

Fashion on Wheels is a new concept started by two young Kuwaiti entrepreneurs with the goal of helping those people who don’t have the opportunity to shop for some reason, whether they are too busy or suffer from a handicap. They can do everything from act as your personal stylist to delivering your purchases to your home.

Hello ladies. I’d like to start by first thanking you for being gracious enough to accept to this interview. I first learned about Fashion on Wheels by finding your group on Facebook and I wanted to learn more about it.

Who is behind Fashion on Wheels?

Laden: I am 23 and I have some experience in selling because of working in the accessories field with my sister since 3 years ago.

I am doing my bachelor degree in computer science at AUK, and working as a part timer in an I.T. department at ABK.

Amna: I am a 20 years old and doing my diploma degree in marketing at ACK, also I am working as a part timer at GBK where I gained my experience in sales and marketing.

What inspired you to come up with the concept of Fashion on Wheels?

Well, me and Amna have been working on this group since two months ago, as we see, it’s a new idea that we deliver whatever people want to their home and the more of that, we get things from out of Kuwait, specially pieces which are not available in the country.

Also, we work as concierge of fashion which we can lead them to what they want in a good price. In addition, we give the clients more options according to their taste so they would make their best choice.

In all businesses, branding is essential. How did you choose the name Fashion on Wheels? What were names that didn’t get picked?

That’s a very good question which might more explain our concept; we got this name and specially (wheels) because we do deliver items to client’s houses wherever they are in Kuwait.

We thought of Fashion Taxi but finally we picked Fashion on Wheels which we think expresses more than the word taxi.

When did you form Fashion on Wheels?

From 2 months ago.

What achievements stand out in your mind when reflecting on Fashion on Wheels?

Well, we are willing to build a well-known name with a very good status for us in person, and help people in shopping with multi-brands and choices which will not be complicated and do the best decisions.

As we think that shopping is an awesome journey that is worth taking and that why we offered fashion on wheels.

What is a memorable moment with a Fashion on Wheels customer?

As we are still in the very first stage, what we discovered about the designing your own T-shirt is that customers come up with very creative ideas which really stay in mind and will be certainly posted [on the Facebook group] once they are done.

Where do you get your merchandise from?

Actually there is no specific place we can name it for you, but we’re getting them mostly from U.S and U.K

Do you have partnerships with stores other than DAR USHA**?

So far we just have one with DAR USHA**

How did this partnership come about?

Laden: Actually the owner of DAR USHA**, which I love and respect a lot for her high morale is a friend of mine and we thought of doing this business together, in respect of her business concept as well.

What are some of your bestselling items?

Laden: I don’t know if it sounds weird but it is Laura Mercier body cream.

I found you through your Facebook group, is there any other way customers can view your merchandise or contact you?

Amna: Well we are contacting them through Facebook, email, and mobile, and planning to make a website later, in future.

You offer customizable t-shirt services, how much would it cost and how long would it take for a customized t-shirt to reach me?

Amna: About the cost, it depends on the design that the customer wants and it takes less than a week to catch.

Your Facebook group states anything I want from Sephora can be delivered to me, how long would my order take to reach my house?

Laden: Well, Sephora has many branches in Europe, U.S , and finally in Bahrain.

It really depends on customer’s order because not all the items are available in all the branches of Sephora.

So the time depends on the customer’s order as well cuz getting stuff from the U.S would be longer than getting them from Bahrain, but the thing I would like people to know is before getting them any thing we do mention the approximate period.

What payment methods do you accept? Do you have/What is your return policy?

Laden: For the mean time, we are accepting cash as we are working on other payment ways.

Amna: As we said before, we clear everything before taking any action. We let the costumer know if this is acceptable of returning or not.

Facebook, a social networking site, has thousands of groups. In recent months, Kuwaiti entrepreneurs have learned that the best way to network and gain brand awareness is through marketing their businesses by creating Facebook groups in the Kuwait network.
