Mango Summer Collection 2007
Saturday, June 9, 2007 22:35If you had a choice of shopping at Mango or Zara, which store would you be running towards? My pick should be rather obvious from the title of this post. I’d go with Mango because every time I’ve entered that store I walk out with several bags of merchandise.
Mango suits my style more as they provide me with the basics I covet and introduce me to a few trendy items each season. Some of my favorites are their knits and t shirts. I stocked up on cropped cardigans like the one I bought from GAP there and got many loose, flowy shirts for the summer.
While Zara’s quality seems to be declining over the years (not that it was good to begin with!), Mango has remained consistent. They have quality products for an affordable price and manage to stock some of my favorite basics and trendy items.
Below is a peek at some of the looks from their Summer 2007 catalog. Which are your faves and which do you hate? I love the Jovavich-Hawk dress!

To show you how plainly I usually dress, I included this look. I have no problem walking out like this, except of course I cannot walk around in short shorts here in Kuwait.

I love this Jovavich-Hawk kimono-style dress! I hunted for it in the stores but couldn’t find it. I have to admit, I didn’t search that diligently and will go back soon to look for it again. Update: Found the dress and don’t like it as much as I do in the catalog. It’s selling for KD20.500.

Those with an eye for designers may have recognized that my header is composed of the many looks from Zuhair Murad’s show. Despite loving his runway collections, my heart never warmed towards any of his creations for Mango. I find them too frilly and the colors hideous. Those are two dresses I would never wear. I’m sure they have their fans. Are you one of them?

actually i find mango clothing material worst than zara, they contain polyester/nylon percetange in most of their items where in zara you can find a lot of 100% percent cotten basics that you can wear all the time. plus mango cuts are bit weird, such that they dont have variety of clothing styles, they’r always the same, never change. nafs il gassat o nafs il mudail.

I disagree, Zara clothes are soooo cheap AND my 60KG sister can barely fit in a Large sometimes; whereas, Mango’s fashions are sooooo funky, beautiful, original and their sizes are very flexible.
GO MANGO!

Eva, I strongly recommend either Vera Wang the original perfume OR the new one i.e. came out last year and it’s called Vera Wang Princess. I LOOOOVE them both. I’m a huge Vera Wang fan. BTW there’s also Eau De Lune by Laura Mercier which is also nice.
I’m sure Zahra has some more choices for you as well.

Wow I didn’t expect to see this much activity on this post! I love it! Girls, feel free to chat as you wish here. This is a blog for you! Enjoy it
EniGma you can find those cropped cardigans at Mango, Oasis, Gap, Banana Republic, Zara and plenty of other stores. The colors differ from store to store so that will play a factor and sizing availability of course! If you tell me what you want I can search for it the next time I’m out
Ansam I love getting clothes for a decent price and I’ve found that Zara’s clothes doesn’t last as much as Mango does with me. But as you can see everyone’s experience is different. Thank you again for your kind words :**
d that’s probably why I love Mango more. The cut works perfectly for me and I love my basic styles that never change & I usually buy cotton from Mango
My friends disagree with me, they prefer Zara.
Aseel haha a diehard Mango fan? Loved your support for them. Welcome to my blog! Hope to see more of you around
Eva, I agree with Aseel and Ansam’s choices. They’re lovely but for more selection I’ll have a post ready for you tomorrow
Aseel and Ansam please feel free to take a break from work anytime to comment on my blog
I encourage it in fact, haha

Eva, I apologize, your last comment (10:50AM) was marked at spam and I just recovered it. Wish I’d read it before I wrote my post for you
7ayach Allah I love it when new topics are discussed
EniGma I actually did haha! But I decided against it because I enjoy the interaction in comments much more. I try to get some posts targetted to spark discussions such as Question of the Day but specific posts seem to interest people more

Couple of years ago I love love LOVE Mango. Until I discovered the burst of color in Zara. See, after years going to MNG, it seemed to me that the style never varies. But you’re right, MNG quality is excellent. I’m more of a quantity over quality, that’s why I heart Zara more.

I love Zara and Zahra! Heehee. You call your style plain?? That look you showed us is far from ordinary, though. I love shorts (as long as they’re long enough to cover my butt) because it’s really, really hot in the Philippines.
I lived in shorts, t-shirts and jersey tops and dresses during the summer, and I think my shorts will still carry onto my rainy-weather wardrobe in the months to come!

The CityLifeStylist thank you so much for your many comments. I actually am considered plain next to all the fashion here. I will try to post some examples for you. I can’t were short shorts here in Kuwait because they’d show too much skin but I’ve been seeing bermudas everywhere!
