A Day at Spring Flows

Did you read the title and wonder what Spring Flows was? If you’ve been following this site (or the news!) then you’ll remember it as the second hand store opened by a Kuwaiti woman a few weeks ago. I had the opportunity to visit it and please don’t ask me for directions because I don’t know how I got there! I truly believe it was the will of God.

Their address is Al-Dahla Building, Exchange Market, opposite to municipality garden, close to Al-Haneefa. I’d suggest you call them at 2470617 for directions if you get lost.

Walking into the store felt like I just entered my great-aunt’s closet. There were many clothes, shoes and handbags and most of them were dated and out of fashion. That was my initial impression. Upon closer inspection, I believe those with a sewing talent could find potential in many of the gowns there. I haven’t got a knack for sewing and I didn’t unearth anything fabulous when I was browsing there.

You will recognize a lot of designer names there. Prices are very, very cheap. The newspaper said bags were in the KD22 range but I found that the majority of them cost much less than that. Many of the items were around the KD5 to KD10 range. We even stumbled across a Chanel bag in good shape being sold for KD8. You can even see a picture of it below. I tried to ask the store employee the process of the store because I had heard proceeds go to charity but she wasn’t able to help me. I’ll have to contact the store owner.

Overall, I don’t think I’ll be going back to Spring Flows. I went there for curiousity’s sake and was glad of the experience even if it was difficult to find the location of the store. I hope the store is a success for the store owner. Hopefully this will inspire more people to start up second hand stores.

Have you been to Spring Flows? Are you thinking of going there? Let me know in the comments!

i think it’s a good concept whether it’s going to charity or not. It’s a good way to get rid of the clothes that are in good condition instead of throwing them away.

    Good work!

EniGma true, sometimes hundreds or thousands are spent on an outfit that’s only worn a few times (if that!) and it’s good to have an outlet for them.

confashion that’s a fabulous bargain! Quite a steal :) Haha Kuwait is tiny isn’t it?

zaboOo6a bel 3aks, I recommend checking it out. I may have not found anything there but you might :)

Ukay-Ukay litereally means to “dig through” the heaps of used clothes. Based from the photo this is one of the classic sosy (filipino lingo for social) ukay-ukay. I’d like to go there just for that Chanel bag, perfect gift for my mom from her cheap daughter. :P I wish there’s road information though. Can we not google earth it?! :)

I’m the opposite haha. I don’t like ukay-ukay. I don’t think you are cheap, simply frugal. Cheap people tend to be stingy. Frugal people are just careful with their money and there’s nothing wrong with that! If you find it on Google Earth let me know ;)
