Over the past few months I have heard whispers about a fantastic handbag store located behind Casper & Gambini’s in the city. I attended an exhibition last month and found her fabulous bags being sold there. More recently I received an e-mail from a loyal Kuwait-Style.com reader telling me that I should know about the store because it was amazing. The lovely owner and designer of Nano Sacchetto was gracious enough to accept an invitation to be interviewed for Kuwait-Style.com.

Before we begin, why did you choose the name Nano Sacchetto for your store?
Ive always had a passion for Italy and its language. Sacchetto means bag and Nano was derived from the word NanoScience which is the study of small details.

What inspired you to start Nano Sacchetto?
My love for handbags, and how one bag will never be enough. This lead me to take courses at Central Saint Martin, london in Handbag design.

When did you launch the store?
The store was opened in May 2006.

I have heard that you design the bags but that they are factory-made. Can you explain to the readers the process of how your bags came to be?
Most of my bags are my designs. I try to sketch as many designs as I can, collect pictures from magazines, etc. and send it to my manufacturer who then sends me fabric swatches.

How often do you launch new collections?
About every two months.

What are your most popular items?
My most popular items would be the unique clutches

What are your price ranges?
I believe my prices are very reasonable, ranging from 25 KD to 70 KD.

What was your most memorable experience with a customer?
When two of my customers were stopped and asked where they got their bags from in London and Boston. It was the most complimentary experience for me.

Can you give aspiring designers words of advice?
Sketch your thoughts, never underestimate your capabilities. Start something original.

The final touches that never end and the competitive nature of other designers and shops.
