Getting a “New Look”

Have you been to New Look yet? I’ve never stepped into a New Look before because I’m one of the 0.01% of Kuwait who has never been to London. My expectations were low but I was pleasantly surprised. There’s such a large collection available to all types of bodies. They have men and children’s clothing, assorted sizes for women from normal sizes to plus sizes and maternity wear and plenty of accessories. Prices of shoes range start from KD13.750 and higher, which is pretty good. I’m not too crazy about their accessory section. It had many, many butterflies. And you know how I feel about butterflies. They’re out. Seahorses and seashells are in. I can’t make a final judgement until I’ve bought some of their merchandise but I enjoyed the vibe I got from that store.
What do you think about this latest craze of “value” retail chains opening up in Kuwait? I’m torn. On the plus side, it’s nice to have a cheap alternative of buying trendy items and not having to pay KD30 or more for a shirt you’ll only wear for two months. On the negative side, “value” seems synonymous with “cheap” these days. Another downside to these retail chains is that they mass produce everything, everyone in the country ends up wearing the same thing and that doesn’t help in a country whose style is driven by herd mentality.

Although I now live in Spain, I used to shop at New Look in the UK. It is a shop that has expanded greatly in recent years and it gives good value for money but without much quality.
In other words you get what you pay for.

I was on the New Look grand opening night at The Avenues a couple of weekends back. Mainly because of the 20% discount attached to the invitation. haha.
At first glance I thought it was another mass produced RTW’s as the fad in Q8 nowadays but upon entering I realized I must’ve been dead and gone to heaven with all those SHOES! I’d kill even only for those shoe racks.
